I recently read The Speed of Trust. This book explains why trust within an organisation and with external parties is a key differentiator and source of competitive advantage. Covey explains how a few simple, if not necessarily easy, behaviours can transform a bureaucratic quagmire into a capable and dynamic force.
Sounds impossible, doesn’t it? But think about how much time and energy are wasted in pointless meetings. In most organisations more than half of employees are not engaged, and specifically most workers distrust their leaders. These are enormous sinks of capability.
